Cartilaginous skeleton marine fish. The disc (body and scapular joint) is wide and rhomboidal with pointed "wings". Long snout ans numerous teeth in each jaw. The skin of the dorsal face is thorny in adults and smooth in the young. The back is grayish brown and the ventral face whitish.
