Marine bivalve mollusc. Solid shell, with elongated and almost symmetrical valves, whose posterior edge is truncated. Smooth outer surface. Inner border of valves slightly toothed. Variable color, generally brown, yellow or grey, decorated with darker concentric and radial bands; inside is white dyed with violet. It can measure up to 4 cm.
