Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Fusiform body. Very long and spadiform face. No teeth and scales. Very rough skin. Triangular dorsal and sickle-shaped caudal fin. Bluish-gray back, lighter flanks. Silvery belly. It can measure up to 6 m and weigh up to 500 kg.
