Family Aristeidae

Marine crustacean consisting of a cephalothorax, abdomen and tail. Rostrum elongate in females and juvenile males; short in adult males, bearing 3 to 7 dorsal teeth along its entire length, followed by 2 postrostral teeth. Telson bearing 4 pairs of movable lateral spines in posterior half. Colour: dark red. Maximum total length 225 mm.
