Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Deep body and laterally compressed, with a very arched dorsal profile. Small eyes, and moderately slit mouth. In the anterior part of mouth there are 4 large canine-shaped teeth, followed by 2 more rows of teeth. The color of dorsum is pink and belly is whitish.
