Marine fish with regularly ossified skeleton. Fusiform body, long head and pointed snout. Small and conical teeth, distributed in each jaw. Dorsal fins very close together. Lunate caudal fin. Dark blue back and silver belly, separated by an iridescent blue band. It weighs up to 30 kg.
